The new Navilas laser: telemedicine of the eyes finally for everyone

Rome Vision Clinic is the first center in Italy to have the new Navilas laser operating directly from Berlin, which embodies the concept of Therapeutic Telemedicine: more specialists, even from different parts of the world, who connect for the diagnosis and treatment of every single patient. In recent years we have often heard of Telemedicine, the digital evolution also born in the field of medicine, based on the transmission of information, images, reports and more for prevention, diagnosis, monitoring and in some cases even therapeutic treatments. guided: although this concept was therefore already a reality in other countries, in Italy it was still considered futuristic and not even conceivable in ophthalmology. All this to date! In fact, the Navilas laser allows several specialists from all over the world to simultaneously look, analyze and arrive at a diagnosis of a specific patient, even if he is on the other side of the world: but in this case and for the first time at the diagnosis he can follow a pre-calibrated laser therapy.

Navilas is a new laser with a wavelength of 577nm that allows to carry out focal and peripheral, supra-threshold or sub-threshold treatments, in patients with diabetic macular edema, proliferating diabetic retinopathy, central serous chorioretinopathy, branch retinal venous occlusions, degeneration and retinal holes; it also allows the execution of anterior segment treatments such as iritodomy or trabeculoplasty. The treatments are more effective than those performed with conventional lasers thanks to the high speed of application of the spots (44% faster, with 100 spots in 30ms), with a microsecond mode and pulse duration of 10-4000 ms , and to the equidistant positioning of the spots.

The tracking and mapping technology allows for digital monitoring, mapping and treatment planning based on the color and infrared background image with the tracking of caution zones, eg. the head of the optic nerve and the fovea.

In addition, advanced reporting and connectivity is possible through the integration of external diagnostic images and a DICOM interface.

Thanks to this new Navilas application module, patients can have the guarantee of a certain diagnosis, thanks to the synchronous work of the world's greatest retinal specialists and a certainty in the execution of the treatment.
