H or known Prof. Andrea Cusumano more than fifteen years ago. I immediately felt that his delicacy, his confidence, his curiosity were the signs of great competence.
In all these years I have entrusted him with the essential tool of my work, my eyes, because I have understood that for him healing is also a way of deepening the study. The curiosity I had perceived at our first meeting is that of someone who was born with a passion for research.
Biography
Counted among the major filmmakers of international cinema, he has directed highly successful films such as Last Tango in Paris, Twentieth Century and The Last Emperor, which earned him the Oscar for best director and best non-original screenplay. He is the only Italian to have won an Oscar for directing, considering that Frank Capra, also the recipient of the award, was Italian but naturalized from the United States. In 2007 he was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 64th Venice International Film Festival and in 2011 the Honorary Palme d'Or at the 64th Cannes Film Festival.
